UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Penn State men's basketball team had another tight defensive battle, but fell just short to the Michigan Wolverines, 58-57, Tuesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The two teams shot a combined 12-for-53 in the second half, but the Wolverines (11-9) held the heavy advantage at the charity stripe to seal the victory.

Michigan shot 22 foul shots while Penn State shot just seven.

Seniors Jalen Pickett and Sam Sessoms lead the Nittany Lions in scoring with 14 and 13, respectively.

John Harrar added eight points on 3-of-4 shooting and pulled down a team-high seven boards.

The Nittany Lions used an 18-4 run at one point in the first half to go up 34-23 on Michigan with under four minutes to play. However, Michigan answered with an 11-0 run to close out the first half, tying the game at 34-34 heading into the locker room.

The Nittany Lions (9-11) tied the game up at 48-48 with 3:37 left in the game on two foul shots by Harrar. However, Hunter Dickinson and Eli Brooks each scored two points down the stretch to put Michigan back up by four. Foul shots down the stretch sealed the win.
