UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Penn State men's basketball's team's road game at Virginia Commonwealth, scheduled for Saturday, has been cancelled due to positive COVID-19 results within the Nittany Lion basketball program.
The game will not be rescheduled.
The Nittany Lions, 5-5, do not have a scheduled game until Wednesday, Dec. 22, at home with Quinnipiac. The status of future games will be determined at a later date.
In a statement released by the athletic department Thursday, it stated that the health and safety of the school's student-athletes, coaches, staff and the broader community are of the utmost importance. Therefore, as part of the protocols established by the Big Ten Conference and Penn State Athletics medical staff, and in consultation with University, local and national officials and guidelines, individuals with a positive test have been put into isolation.
In addition to isolation, contact tracing procedures have been implemented, which includes testing for those individuals who might have been exposed.
