Dotson climbs WR chart

Jahan Dotson caught eight passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ 30-27 loss at Michigan State.

He now has 25 career touchdowns, tying him with Kenny Jackson for second on the Lions’ all-time list behind Bobby Engram’s 31.

His 91 catches this season trail Allen Robinson’s single-season mark of 97 set in 2013.

Dotson moved into second place on Penn State’s single-season receiving yards list passing with 1,182.

The senior has 183 career receptions and passed Robinson and Deon Butler (2005-08) to move into second all-time at Penn State behind DaeSean Hamilton’s 214.

Dotson’s focus Saturday was on the team.

“It’s tough knowing that almost every loss we’ve had has come in one-possession games,” he said. “It really points back to the little details. That’s when games are won and lost, when they’re that close.”

Parker Washington has 57 receptions this season and 93 for his career (two seasons), which ties him for 20th on the all-time list with Freddie Scott.

Porter struggles

Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has been penalized for pass interference in five straight games.

James Franklin said teams have targeted Porter and alerted the Big Ten office. He said Penn State does the same thing.

“We’ve got to help him without using his hands and not being so grabby,” he said.

Penn State was penalized twice for 17 yards compared with MSU’s seven for 54.

Notable

- Sean Clifford has connected with Dotson for 23 career touchdowns, the most in school history for a quarterback-receiver duo and the most of any FBS quarterback-receiver duo this season.

Clifford finished 23-for-34 passing for 313 yards and three touchdowns, his seventh career 300-yard passing game, now sitting third all-time at Penn State.

Clifford owns 8,495 career total yards, moving him past Christian Hackenberg for second all-time at Penn State behind all-time leader Trace McSorley.

- Daequan Hardy’s interception return for a touchdown was the Lions’ third this season, the most since 2003.

- Jordan Stout has 25 punts of 50-plus yards this season but made only 16 of 23 field goals. He had touchbacks on 56 of 62 kickoffs.

- Penn State fell to 6-11 at Michigan State and trails the series 18-17-1.
