Banks walking on at PSU
Hollidaysburg linebacker and reigning Altoona Mirror Player of the Year Josh Banks has committed to Penn State as a preferred walk-on.
Banks led the Golden Tigers in tackles for the second year in a row in 2025, and also registered 15 tackles for a loss, five interceptions, and a blocked punt.
On the offensive end as Hollidaysburg’s H-back, Banks ran for two touchdowns and caught three more TDs. He was the lead blocker for Carter Muth, who compiled over 2,000 rushing yards for the year.
“I sat down with myself and laid out my options. I asked where can I go to be the best football player possible. With that it was a no-brainer,” Banks texted the Mirror. “The culture at Penn State, knowing its nickname ‘LBU,’ made it easy.”
Banks also had Division I offers from Pitt, Maine, Lehigh and Virginia Military Institute.
