Notable: Penn State is cooking off a 97-57 win over an overmatched Canisius program. The Nittany Lions returned just two players from last year, Josh Reed and Ivan Juric. However, the big surprise was fifth-year senior Roko Prkacin, who came off the bench to finish with 28 points off the bench and six rebounds. He was 10-of-12 from the field. Juric finished with 14 points and 15 boards while Reed totaled 12. New teammate Francois Wibault added 10 points. ... UTC lost to Louisville, but it was 84-70, which is a lot closer than some would think that outcome would be. UTC is led by a familiar name, Dan Earl, former standout Penn State point guard who played in the mid to late 1990s. He has a record of 81-57 going into this season as coach. ... Against Louisville, UTC got 14 points each from Zach Bleshoy and Yonatan Levy, 12 from Lenny Anigbata and 10 points from Christian Matos. ... PSU needs to improve up on its 3-point field goal shooting tonight, after hitting on just 21 percent of its shot from beyond the arc against Canisius. UTC hit on just 36 percent of its 3-pointers. ... Penn State did get 57 points off its bench in the season-opening win.
