The Penn State Altoona women's cross country program picked up its first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Runner of the Week award this season, as freshman Kira Bantell was named the league's Women's Runner of the Week.
Bantell was the Lions' top finisher in this past Saturday's 5K race, when Penn State Altoona competed in the Eagle Invitational. The freshman clocked a time of 22:06.3 to place ninth out of 37 individual runners.
On the men's side, sophomore Remy Bailey was selected as the AMCC Men's Runner of the Week.
Bailey was the Lions' top finisher in Saturday's Eagle Invitational 6K race, hosted by Juniata College at Indian Valley Elementary Center in Reedsville. The sophomore crossed the finish line at 22:27.0, placing 12th out of 38 men's runners.
Penn State Altoona finished the meet in fourth place with a team score of 93 points.
