UNIVERSITY PARK -- U.S. Senator Dave McCormick (R-PA) spoke on the Senate floor earlier this week to honor the 2026 NCAA National Champion Penn State Nittany Lions wrestling team.
He introduced a Senate resolution congratulating the program on its fifth consecutive national championship and 13th NCAA title in the last 15 NCAA tournaments. Senator McCormick praised the team's historic accomplishments and reflected on how the sport of wrestling cultivates the discipline, resilience, and character that have long defined Pennsylvania and strengthened our nation.

– Four student-athletes from the Penn State Altoona men's golf team were recognized for their academic accomplishments when the Golf Coaches Association of America announced its 2025-26 NCAA Division III Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars. Earning spots were Jack Ankeny, Daniel Batrus, Nicholas Helsley and Nicky Riscica.
– The Penn State Altoona men's wrestling program joined the State University of New York Athletic Conference as an associate member when the conference announced an expansion of its men's wrestling league to 13 teams effective for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Joining Penn State Altoona in the move tare fellow Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schools Penn State Behrend and Pitt-Bradford, along with Alfred State.
– Penn State women's soccer saw a trio of student-athletes garner Big Ten Player to Watch accolades this week with fifth-year goalkeeper Mackenzie Gress, midfielder Molly Martin and junior forward Aubrey Kulpa landing those honors in a release by the conference office.
– Penn State junior defender Bella Ayscue garnered national acclaim with the third-year Nittany Lion appearing as a United Soccer Coaches Defender to Watch following that organization's release. PSU's stalwart center back picked up United Soccer Coaches Defender to Watch laurels for the second year in a row, picking that accolade up alongside now-senior teammate Kaelyn Wolfe in last year's preseason awards cycle.
