UNIVERSITY PARK — Following are the highlights and lowlights from Penn State’s 52-6 victory over Villanova on Saturday at Beaver Stadium:

Play of the game: Dani Dennis-Sutton pressured Villanova quarterback Pat McQuaide, who let a duck go in the third quarter, and Elliot Washington intercepted.

Offensive player of the game: Trebor Pena caught four passes for 60 yards, including a touchdown, and rushed four times for 33 yards.

Defensive player of the game: Amare Campbell made a team-high seven tackles — all solos — including three for loss.

Most telling statistic: Penn State held Villanova to 2.8 yards per play.

Most deceiving statistic: The Wildcats won time of possession, 31:44-28:16.

Hidden statistic: Of ‘Nova’s 179 total yards, 75 came on the Wildcats’ last drive.

Best run: Villanova’s David Avit burst 27 yards late in the second quarter.

Best pass: Drew Allar threaded a 23-yard TD post to Pena that gave the Nittany Lions a 21-0 lead (after the 2-point conversion) with 32 seconds left in the first half.

Worst pass: On first down at the ‘Nova 11, Allar was intercepted in the left flat by Omari Bursey.

Best catch: Villanova tight end Brandon Binkowski made a great one-handed catch and got a toe down to make it 52-6 on the game’s final play.

Catch it, will ya: Pena missed a pass inside the Villanova 5 in the second quarter that would have been a first down if not a TD and forced a field goal. Kaytron Allen also had a drop.

Hold it, won’t ya: Penn State didn’t fumble.

Best block: T.J. Shanahan opened the edge for Allen’s 18-yard TD in the fourth quarter that extended the lead to 38-0.

Best tackle: Dakaari Nelson flipped Wildcat returner Isaiah Wright at the Wildcats’ 13 to open the second half.

Best hit: Kolin Dinkins drilled Wright on a first-quarter kickoff return, forcing a fumble that ‘Nova recovered.

Best kick: Villanova’s Luke Larson uncorked a 54-yard punt early.

Worst kick: A fourth-down delay didn’t help, putting ‘Nova at its 5, but Larson’s second punt traveled just 25 yards.

Worst penalty: Villanova’s Dhamir Wesley was hit with a blocking below the waist no-no in the second quarter that wiped out a 32-yard field goal.

Best call: Fourth-and-2 from the Nits’ 44 and 2:00 left in the half. Down 13-0, the Cats could have punted and tried to keep the score down. Instead, they converted.

Worst call: Nothing popped out.

Best effort: Jahmir Joseph’s 49-yard interception return with 6:24 left gave the Lions a 52-0 lead.

Best moment: Honoring the 2005 Orange Bowl team after the first quarter. Maybe next time, they’ll buzz the list of attendees.

Unsung hero: Devonte Ross returned four punts for 52 yards, including a 34-yarder.
