Penn State confirmed Tuesday night that it is reevaluating its merchandise partnership.

It was reported earlier in the day by national media member Brent McMurphy of On3 that the university is switching to Adidas.

Penn State has partnered with Nike for more than 30 years, one of the first schools to do so.

The university issued a statement that it is conducting a “Request for Proposal (RFP)” for its merchandising options that will “identify the best partner to support our student-athletes, coaches and fans.”

Adidas is pushing to gain more traction in the college sports world, having landed Tennessee from the SEC last month. The Vols’ deal is for 10 years and reportedly includes NIL compensation for the athletes.

The deal with Tennessee is worth a reported $10 million annually.

PSU’s terms with Nike have not been disclosed.

Penn State’s potential move to Adidas is subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, who are scheduled to meet Sept. 12-13.

Starting at $2.99/week.
