Big Ten gives PSU 2 awards
UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State Nittany Lion wrestlers Tyler Kasak and Luke Lilledahl were named Big Ten Wrestler and Freshman of the Week, respectively, in the Big Ten Wednesday.
Kasak defeated Jacori Teemer at 157, winning by a 5-2 score. Kasak, with 2:04 in riding time, posted the 5-2 win to help lead Penn State to a win over No. 2 Iowa. Kasak improved to 12-0 on the year with two falls, two techs and three majors.
Lilledahl beat Joey Cruz in a 22-6 technical fall victory (6:43). Lilledahl tallied seven takedowns, including five in the third period. He is now 11-1 on the year with six tech falls.
Lions’ Baldwin makes list
UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State men’s basketball graduate student Ace Baldwin Jr. is one of 15 Division I players, and the only player from the Big Ten Conference, to be named to the Naismith National Defensive Player of the Year Watch List on Wednesday.
Baldwin Jr. is the reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and leads the Nittany Lions with 43 steals this season. Widely regarded as one of the toughest defensive matchups in the country, Baldwin Jr. is averaging 14.0 points, 7.7 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.
Baldwin Jr. is the NCAA’s active leader in career steals with 314.
