Carter declares for NFL

The Penn State football roster movement has quickly begun.

As expected, Abdul Carter confirmed his intentions over the weekend to declare for the NFL Draft. He’s expected to be among the top players selected, a certain first-rounder.

Defensive tackle Zane Durant announced he will return for the 2025 season and will be a cornerstone or the defensive line.

The secondary will be in flux.

Safety Jaylen Reed and cornerback Jalen Kimber declared for the NFL draft on Sunday and corner Cam Miller entered the transfer portal.

Reed was out of eligibility. Kimber was a transfer from Florida who played (and started) one season with the Lions.

The Lions also picked up a new (and old) cornerback, perhaps to help replace Kimber and Miller. King Mack, who played at Penn State in 2023 and then transferred to Alabama, is returning to Happy Valley.

The Lions picked up a defensive tackle from Michigan, New Jersey native Owen Wafle, who didn’t play for the Wolverines this past season and has four years of eligibility left. Wafle’s younger brother is a PSU recruiting target.

Two players from Texas A&M are joining the Lions — offensive tackle T.J. Shanahan and defensive lineman Enai White.

Previously, USC receiver Kyron Hudson confirmed he’s transferring to Penn State.

As of Sunday night, there was no word yet on Penn State tailbacks Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, who were considering their NFL and 2025 options.
