PSU, Pitt sign 20-plus players
From Mirror, wire reports
UNIVERSITY PARK — Coach James Franklin unveiled the 2025 Penn State football recruiting class during signing day inside the Lasch building on Wednesday.
The Nittany Lions welcomed 26 student-athletes, who signed National Letters of Intent to join the football program. Fourteen of the signees will be early enrollees in January — DL Randy Adirika, OL Owen Aliciene, LB LaVar Arrington II, DL Dayshaun Burnett, DB Daryus Dixson, RB Tikey Hayes, WR Koby Howard, DL Yvan Kemajou, TE Brian Kortovich, QB Bekkem Kritza, WR Matt Outten, WR Lyrick Samuel, LB Alex Tatsch and DB Braz Thomas.
Penn State signed 23 recruits that were rated four stars or higher by 247Sports, On3, ESPN or Rivals. The class features players from 10 different states, plus the program signed 19 prospects from Pennsylvania or bordering states.
The Class of 2025 features 13 offensive signees and 13 defensive players. There are 20 team captains, five players who have won a state or national championship and two players invited to All-American Bowls.
Pitt gets done early
Pitt signed its 21-man class of 2025 on Wednesday, inking the entire class by noon.
It’s a big group, bigger than any of the last couple of classes, and it bodes well for the future of the program.
The coaching staff has raved about quarterback Mason Heintschel, who turned down late Power Four interest to sign with the Panthers. He’s a perfect fit at quarterback in offensive coordinator Kade Bell’s offensive scheme.
Ja’Kyrian Turner has a fast track toward working into what is now a thin running backs room, and the entire wide receiving class will have a chance to crack the lineup now. Max Hunt, too, at tight end.
Juju Anderson and Denim Cook join an exciting group of defensive linemen, and Justin Thompson and Emmanuel Taylor are set to add depth to its linebacking corps. Joshua Guerrier, Shawn Lee Jr. and Mason Alexander enter a more veteran defensive backs room, but all three fit the mold of what the coaches like from their defensive backs.
