Lions' Carter on finalist list
UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State junior defensive end Abdul Carter was named a finalist for the Lombardi Award on Wednesday.
The Lombardi Award, established in 1970, is presented to an outstanding lineman who best epitomizes the values of leadership, courage, performance and discipline on and off the field.
In three seasons he has 149 tackles, 90 solo with 33.5 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, five forced fumbles, an interception and 12 pass breakups.
This season he has 45 tackles, 29 solo,eight sacks and two forced fumbles, plus 17.5 tackles for loss.
He is Penn State's first Lombardi Award finalist since Carl Nassib won the award in 2015.
