More honors for Lions' TE
UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State senior tight end Tyler Warren collected multiple national weekly awards Tuesday for his performance in Penn State's 33-30 overtime win at USC.
Warren was named National Player of the Week by the Associated Press, along with being named to the list for the Maxwell Award, Mackey Award and Paul Hornung Award.
The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell, who was a former standout at Swarthmore College and was a renowned sportswriter and football official.
The John Mackey Award is presented annually to the top tight end in college football.
The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is given annually by the Louisville Sports Commission to the most versatile player in major college football.
Warren's 32-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter, after snapping the ball to begin the play, was the FWAA Pop-Tarts Play of the Week.
