UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State men's basketball coach Mike Rhoades has dismissed his leading scorer.
Rhoades confirmed Monday that Kanye Clary, who was averaging 16.7 points through 23 games, is no longer with the team.
"We'll move forward and focus on the task at hand," Rhoades said. "It came to a point where as a coach, I decided to move on."
Rhoades declined chances to elaborate at his press availability.
Clary did not travel with the team Saturday to a one-sided loss at Nebraska.
The speedy sophomore guard suffered a concussion during a loss to Minnesota on Jan. 27. He missed the next three games, including wins at Indiana and Rutgers.
Once he returned, he came off the bench and saw his minutes reduced during losses to Northwestern and Michigan State.
Clary, a product of Virginia Beach, was recruited by Micah Shrewsberry but stayed at Penn State after Shrewsberry departed for Notre Dame.
"Everyone in this locker room has faith in this team and faith in Coach Rhoades," forward Puff Johnson told The Daily Collegian. "We need to keep working as a team and keep building every day."
