PSU wrestler wins honor
UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State Nittany Lion wrestler Beau Bartlett was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week fon Wednesday.
Bartlett wins Penn State's second-straight weekly honor after teammate Shayne Van Ness won last week. He shares this week's award with Rutgers' Yaraslau Slavikouski.
Bartlett, a senior, rolled to the Black Knight Invite championship with a 4-0 run, including three straight pins to start the tournament. He pinned Riley Halal of Brown at 2:36, Joe Fongaro of Rutgers at 4:48 and Rich Treanor of Army West Point at 3:57 to advance to the title bout.
In the finals, he used a late takedown to notch a hard-fought 4-1 win over teammate Tyler Kasak.
Bartlett is now 7-0 on the year with four pins and a major. He improved his career record to 57-16. Penn State crowned five champions at the event and had 12 of its 17 wrestlers place.
The Penn State wrestling team will opens its dual-meet season at home, Dec. 3,against Army at Rec Hall.
