Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter was charged Wednesday with possession of marijuana that police found him with on Aug. 8, WJAC-TV reported.
The station reported that Carter admitted to using the pot after police responded to a dormitory fire alarm.
Carter is scheduled for a hearing on Oct. 4.
PSU coach James Franklin said Wednesday night the matter is being handled internally.
