According to several media outlets Tuesday night, Penn State reportedly is courting Virginia Commonwealth's Mike Rhoades as its next men's basketball coach, potentially bringing a Pennsylvania native back home.
Rhoades, a Lebanon Valley College graduate who just completed his sixth season at VCU, has interviewed with Penn State to replace Micah Shrewsberry, who left for Notre Dame. The process is ongoing. Before Penn State announces any hire, the Board of Trustees must approve the contract in a public meeting.
The board's Subcommittee on Compensation has scheduled three meetings this week: today, Thursday and Friday. It's unclear yet whether any involve the men's basketball coaching position.
