UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State basketball players Jalen Pickett and Camren Wynter both received recognition on Monday for their performances with the Nittany Lions, one for last week and one for the entire season.
Pickett was named as one of five finalists in the nation for the 2023 Bob Cousy Award, given out to the top Division I guard in the country, while Wynter was named the Big Ten Payer of the Week.
Pickett's news comes a day after he was named one of 15 finalists for the Wooden Award, given to the best Division I player in the country. He also made the finalist list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy as well.
Pickett ranks in the top five nationally in assists per game and assists-to-turnover ratio per game. After 31 games this season, he is still the only player in the country averaging 18 points-per game and more than seven rebounds and seven assists.
The other four finalists for the Cousy Award are Kansas State's Marquis Nowell, Marquette's Tyler Kolek, Northwestern's Boo Buie and St. Louis' Yuri Collins.
Wynter's honor comes on the heels of a 2-0 week for Penn State in which he produced two-game winning shots. He hit a 3-pointer from the corner with under a second left to beat Northwestern in overtime. He had a putback off a missed shot in the final second to beat Maryland.
Over the last five games, Wynter is averaging 15.2 points-per game for the Lions. He is shooting 72 percent from the 3-point line, too.
