Steelers will waive TE Smith
PITTSBURGH — Jonnu Smith’s time in Pittsburgh is apparently over. ESPN reported late Wednesday night that the Steelers will release the veteran tight end when the new league year begins next week. According to ESPN, cutting ties with Smith, 30, will save Pittsburgh $7 million in cap space. The new league year begins on March 11 at 4 p.m. Smith showed up in Pittsburgh via a trade with the Miami Dolphins, that also included the Steelers getting Jalen Ramsey in exchange for Minkah Fitzpatrick.
