Pirates get Marinaccio from San Diego

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired right-handed pitcher Ron Marinaccio from San Diego, in exchange for International signing bonus pool considerations.
The 31-year-old Marinaccio went 1-0 with a 4.79 ERA in 47 innings and had 38 strikeouts across his 33 relief appearances with the Padres this season.
He pitched more than one inning in 17 of his 33 appearances with San Diego, including at least two innings in 11 of those 33 appearances.
Marinaccio, who was originally selected by the New York Yankees out of the University of Delaware in the 19th round of the 2017 first-year player draft, has gone a combined 7-5 with two saves, a 3.50 ERA with 187 strikeouts in 141 career games with New York (2022-24) and San Diego (2025-26).
He posted a 3.02 ERA, 149 strikeouts and a .186 batting average against (81-for-436) in 108 appearances from 2022-25, making him one of only nine Major League pitchers with a sub-3.05 ERA, at least 145 strikeouts and a sub-.190 batting average against during that stretch.
Right-handed pitcher Dennis Santana has been designated for assignment to make room for Marinaccio on Pittsburgh's active and 40-man rosters.
In addition, the Pirates signed second-round pick Aiden Ruiz, third-round pick Jason DeCaro, fourth-round pick Andruw Giles and 11th-round pick Spencer Evans from the 2026 MLB Draft.
Dodgers visit DC
WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump has celebrated the Los Angeles Dodgers at the White House, calling the team "one of the great brands anywhere in the world."
Thursday's event marked the Dodgers' second consecutive World Series win and second White House annual visit, after they edged the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 last November. Trump expressed excitement about meeting Shohei Ohtani and compared him to Babe Ruth.
The Dodgers gave Trump a jersey and a replica World Series ring. The president mused about whether to report the gift and said the war in Iran had prevented him from following baseball this season. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team is aiming for a three-peat.
