Bullpen fails for Pirates
SARASOTA, Fla. -- Reliever Ryder Ryan was charged with two runs in the eighth inning Wednesday night as the Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the Baltimore Orioles, 6-4, in Grapefruit League action.
Pittsburgh (5-7) scored all four runs in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead at the time. Liover Peguero went 2-for-2 with a run scored and is batting .429 in seven games this spring. Teammate Jared Triolo went 1-for-3 and is batting .350 this spring.
On the mound, starter Mitch Keller gave up two runs in the first inning and wound up charged with three runs over four innings in his third start. He threw 55 pitches, 34 for strikes. Braxton Ashcraft and Carmen Mlodzinski each tossed a scoreless frame and neither have given up a run this spring.
The Pirates are off today and play two games on Friday with Martin Perez starting against Minnesota while Marco Gonzales will pitch against the Braves. Both games are at 1 p.m. The Twins game will air live on SportsNet Pittsburgh.

n National League MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. is expected to be ready for opening day with the Braves after a more thorough examination of his sore right knee found no serious issues. Acuna left the Braves' spring training site in Florida to be examined by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Monday night.
