Pitcher Skenes sent to minor league camp

BRADENTON Fla. — The Pittsburgh Pirates reassigned right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes, catcher Carter Bins, infielder Sergio Alcantara and outfielders Matt Gorski and Joe Perez to minor league camp on Sunday.
In addition, right-handed pitcher Kyle Nicolas was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
There are now 45 active players remaining in camp.
The Pirates beat the Tampa Bay Rays, 8-4, in exhibition play Sunday behind home runs from Nick Gonzales, Matt Gorski and Shawn Ross.
On Saturday, the Pirates beat the Braves, 4-2, thanks to four scoreless inning pitched by Jared Jones, and the Pirates also lost to the Tigers, 6-4, despite four scoreless innings thrown by Mitch Keller.
