Tom Walker dies at 74
Tom Walker, who once threw a 15-inning no-hitter in the minor leagues, was one of the last people to see Roberto Clemente alive, and was the father of former Pirate Neil Walker, died Monday, according to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was 74.
Walker spent six seasons in the Major Leagues, making his debut with the Monteal Expos in 1972. He also pitched for the Tigers, Cardinals and Angels.
He signed with the Pirates as a free agent in 1978 and attended spring training with the Bucs that year before announcing his retirement.
A long-time Pittsburgh resident, Tom Walker was a part of the Pirates alumni group. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, sons Neil, Matt and Sean, and daughter Carrie, who is married to Pirates coach Don Kelly
