Well I arrived home from chasing turkeys around the spring woods to find that it is now time to get a new hunting license and to be ready to send for the first round of doe licenses for the upcoming year.
We are going to be able to hunt both antlered and antlerless at the same time so there will be lots of shooting and deer being pushed from pace to place. So it will be noisy and exciting.
Once again this year, additional hunting will be offered on three Sundays
n Sunday, Nov. 14
n Sunday, Nov. 21
n Sunday, Nov. 28.
But unlike last year, when those Sundays were open only for deer or bear hunting, this year they're open for other species that are in season, too, except turkeys and migratory game birds.

Pennsylvania elk hunters in 2021-22 also will be out there in record numbers. The 187 licenses available marks an increase from the 164 allocated the previous year. A record 56 of the 2021-22 licenses are for bulls.
Passionate deer hunters think about deer hunting nearly every day. There have been a number of changes recently in rules and times so hunters are wondering what the Game Commission is going to spring on them next.
We have adjusted pretty much to the opening day being on Saturday and the recent changes on doe hunting. But this year we have to cope with being able to shoot antlered and antlerless deer during the two weeks of season.
Therefore we have to be thinking of sending for our antlerless licenses and I am surprised by how many hunters let that deadline go by.
Residents must send for their doe tag by July 12 this year; the non-resident deadline is July 19. If per chance there are any licenses left, the bonus round will be Aug.t 2 for residents and Aug. 16 for out of staters. Wildlife management Unit 4D has an allocation of 55,000 licenses, an increase of 10,000 from last year.

Please remember fellow Mirror Outdoors writer Walt Young during this difficult time. His mother passed away recently.
I did not know her well but I remember Walt telling me often that when he was a boy, his mother would take him in the car to a stream or river and drop him off with all his fishing gear and he would fish his way back home.
That's what great moms do, in my opinion, and you are privileged almost weekly to see the results of her efforts on his part.
