Sports at a glance: Los Angeles Rams’ Trent McDuffie to be top-paid CB

LOS ANGELES — Trent McDuffie and the Los Angeles Rams are closing in on a contract extension that will make him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

That’s according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Sunday night because the deal had not been finalized.

The Rams have yet to confirm they’ve even acquired McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs for a package of draft picks in a trade. After falling one game short of the Super Bowl last season, the Rams have stepped up to address the most glaring weakness on their roster.

Elsewhere in the NFL:

– The Denver Broncos and inside linebacker Justin Strnad agreed on a three-year, $18 million contract, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Sunday.

– Three-time All-Pro pass rusher Khalil Mack is returning to the Los Angeles Chargers on a fully guaranteed $18 million, one-year deal, a person with knowledge of the agreement told The Associated Press on Saturday night.

– Buffalo Bills center Connor McGovern is staying put after agreeing to a four-year contract on Saturday, two people familiar with the deal confirmed to The Associated Press.

Starting at $2.99/week.
