Former Altoona football star signed by Colts to 53-man roster

Altoona graduate Kevin Givens is on the Indianapolis Colts' 53-man roster.

Givens, who played defensive tackle at Penn State, had played a majority of his career in San Francisco with the 49ers. He was signed off the 49ers' practice squad by Indianapolis.

The Colts are 2-6 this season and last week traded star defensive tackle DeForrest Buckner and All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson.

Ex-Pitt QB signs

With Lamar Jackson expected to miss significant time and Tyler Huntley not practicing either because of a foot injury, the Ravens are down to rookie Joey Fagnano, Kedon Slovis and Austin Reed at quarterback.

Slovis, a one-time Pitt quarterback, signed Tuesday. He played in two games for the Cardinals last season.

Elsewhere in the NFL:

n The Cardinals placed running back Jeremiyah Love on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain. The No. 3 overall pick has battled ankle problems all season. He has run for 268 yards and a touchdown in six games.
