Noce sets record for Altoona girls in win

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Altoona senior Ashlyn Noce set a course record in helping the Lady Lions beat host Hollidaysburg, 26-29, in high school cross country on Wednesday.
Noce placed first in a time of 18 minutes, 24 seconds to break the previous Hollidaysburg course record set by Central's Lanee Berkhimer. Altoona's Emma Etters was second, followed by Hollidaysburg's Julia Van Kleunen.
Hollidaysburg's Reuben Manfred won the boys race in 16:35, but Altoona, with Archie Glover and Seth Lieb finishing second and third, nipped the Golden Tigers, 27-28. It was Hollidaysburg's senior night.
The Hollidaysburg boys did beat Bellwood-Antis, 15-50, and Penns Valley, 18-44, while the Penns Valley boys topped Bellwood, 21-36.
The Hollidaysburg girls earned wins over Bellwood (22-39) and Penns Valley (16-47), while the Bellwood girls beat Penns Valley, 18-41.

PORTAGE -- Reed Takacs and Miles Doyle finished first and second, respectively, to help the Central Cambria boys beat Somerset, 15-48, Richland, 18-45, Cambria Heights, 15-46, and Portage, 15-50, at Maple Crest Golf Course.
The Portage boys also lost to Somerset, 20-36, and Richland, 15-49, and the Heights boys lost to Somerset, 27-30, and Richland, 23-38. The Richland boys also beat Somerset, 19-42.
The Central Cambria girls beat Somerset, 20-43, Richland, 24-37, Heights, 15-48, and Portage, 15-50, with Jillian Wise placing third. Somerset's Emily Fisher won the girls race.
The Portage girls also lost to Somerset, 27-28, and Richland, 19-37, and the Heights girls fell to Somerset, 22-36, and Richland, 20-40. The Richland girls also beat Somerset, 22-35.
The Cambria Heights boys are now 13-8 while their girls are 10-11. The Red Devil boys and girls teams are both 14 -0.
The Portage boys are 5-8 while the Lady Mustangs are 6-8.

BELLEFONTE -- The Tyrone girls, behind a third-place finish from Sage Harbst, defeated Bald Eagle Area, 27-32, and Bellefonte, 23-36.
The Tyrone boys, with Brenson Davis finishing third, beat BEA, 19-39, but fell to Bellefonte, 20-45.

LILLY -- The Penn Cambria girls lost to Bedford, 19-42, and Westmont Hilltop, 20-36, while the Bedford girls topped Westmont, 24-33. Bedford's Chloe May won the girls race with PC's Lily Hallinan finishing third.
Payton Fyfe won the boys race for Bedford, which topped Penn Cambria, 13-23. PC's Vinny Ricupero placed third in the boys race.

ALEXANDRIA -- Maggie Barton raced to a first-place finish to lead the Juniata Valley girls to victories over Forbes Road (15-50) and Meyersdale (15-50).
The JV girls lost to Southern Huntingdon, 25-30.
The Juniata Valley boys fell to Forbes Road, Meyersdale and Southern Huntingdon, all by 15-50 scores. Southern's Logan Horn won the boys race.
