PITTSBURGH -- Pitt senior Olivia Babcock was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, the fifth time this year and the 14th time in her career.
Babcock recently had 45 kills over two matches against SMU.
The nation's leader in kills per set and points per set, Babcock had 25 kills in a four-set loss to No. 6 SMU Wednesday night that snapped Pitt's 58-match win streak and perfect 14-0 start to the season.
That loss fueled one of the best performances of her career Sunday as the two-time AVCA National Player of the Year put on a show for a national television audience on ABC. She had 20 kills, hit .567, and added five blocks, three digs, three assists and an ace.
Babcock broke Pitt's career records in both kills and service aces. With each match, she establishes a new standard in Pitt history and now has 1,884 career kills and 178 career aces.
Fell recognized
Penn State Altoona women's tennis player Sienna Fell was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week.
Fell went undefeated in both of her No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles matches last week, as her team closed out its regular season schedule with matches against Juniata College and Pitt-Greensburg.
This is Fell's second AMCC Player of the Week award this season. The junior currently holds a 13-3 overall record in singles matches, including a 6-2 mark against AMCC competition. In doubles, Fell is 14-1 overall with an 8-0 AMCC record.
