HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Hollidaysburg boys soccer team opened their season Monday with a 3-0 win over Central in high school play.
Devin Walters scored two goals for the Golden Tigers, who led 1-0 at the break. Bryce Hollingshead added another goal for the winners, who got the shutout from goalie Liam Jancula and his five saves.
Central fell to 0-1-1.

JOHNSTOWN -- Penn Cambria opened its season with a 6-0 loss at Westmont Hilltop.
Max Marian had a hat trick for the winners, who also got solo goals from Kaden Weidlein, Calvin Gilbert and Eli Brownlee.
Penn Cambria keeper Cooper Sasse stopped 18 shots.

Rivera shines
EBENSBURG -- Jonathan Rivera scored off a pass from Rocco Barra in the second half in Central Cambria's 1-0 win over Somerset.
Jacob Fisher recorded the shutout for the Red Devils (1-0).

Smearman keys Eagles
HUNTINGDON -- Tyrone erased a 2-1 deficit at halftime with three second-half goals in a 4-2 victory at Huntingdon.
Ned Smearman scored two goals for the Golden Eagles in their first game of the year. Karter Bokulich and Tytus Novak also had a goal apiece for Tyrone.
Novak, Cam Nelson, and Ethan Myers provided assists for Tyrone.

SOMERSET -- Altoona picked up its first win of the season on the road in a 3-1 win over Somerset in girls high school soccer.
Ajaycia Alexander, Natalie Bumbarger and Leah Connolly picked up the goals for the Lady Lions (1-2). Ava Frye, Mikayla Patterson and Gianna Huber had the assists.
