The Altoona Area High School girls tennis team took home the consolation prize at the Mountain Lion Invitational on Friday.
The Lady Lions, who opened with a 3-2 win over Indiana in the semifinals, fell to Abbington Heights in the finals, 4-1.
Against Heights, Altoona (7-3) got its only win at No. 2 doubles when Natalie Baker and Mariah Harris teamed up for a win. Heights is 13-1 with its only loss against Hollidaysburg on Thursday.
In a 3-2 win over Indiana, Altoona got singles victories from Skylar Irwin and Andie Adams, along with Emma Hovan and Erika Irwin.
Central Cambria also competed and lost 5-0 to Heights in the opener. In the consolation match, Indiana downed the Lady Red Devils 3-2. Taryn Ream and Ireland Deballi picked up singles victories for Central Cambria.

Altoona hosting invite
The 31st annual Altoona Mountain Lion Cross Country Invitational will be held Saturday morning at the Logan Elementary School course.
The girls middle school race will begin the competition at 9:30 a.m., followed by the boys middle school race at 10, the boys varsity race at 10:30 and the girls varsity at 11:05.
An awards ceremony will be held at approximately noon following the final race. Forty-nine teams with 654 individual entries between the four races have registered for the event.
Volleyball at SFU
LORETTO -- Saint Francis University will host a 30-team high school volleyball tournament starting Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m inside the DeGol Arena.
This is the 25th season Saint Francis has hosted the event, and the field includes 10 teams ranked in the state. All 30 teams advance to the playoffs in either the gold, silver or bronze bracket.
Competing are Bellwood-Antis, Bishop Carroll, Cambria Heights, Central, Central Cambria, Central Mountain, Clairon, Clarion Limestone, Claysburg-Kimmel, Clearfield, Elk County Catholic, Ferndale, Forest Hills, Johnstown, Huntingdon, Maplewood, Mifflin County, Northern Bedford, Northern Cambria, Penn Cambria, Philipsburg-Osceola, Richland, Somerset, Sugar Valley, United, West Branch, West Shamokin, Westmont Hilltop, Williamsburg and Williamsport.
