The Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors' Hall of Fame recently announced the addition of three familiar names from the Mirror coverage area to its list of honorees: Dean Rossi, Jeff Batzel and Brian Koontz.
Rossi, the former Hollidaysburg Area Athletic Director who passed away in 2015, along with Northern Bedford's Batzel and Everett's Koontz, will be inducted at a ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the University of Pittsburgh.
Rossi served as AD at Hollidaysburg for 25 years and as a part-time athletic director at Huntingdon for two years. He also served at the District 6 Chairman, and was president of the District 6 Athletic Directors Association, as well as District 6 representative on the PIAA Board of control for many years. He was also a PIAA track and field official.
Batzel, who retired from NBC after 25 years of service, also was an AD at Everett. He served on the District 5 Committee for 29 years and has been a member of the PSADA Executive Council for 22 years.
Koontz retired from AD duties at Everett after 21 years of service. He was also on the District 5 Committee and served as the Financial Manager of PSADA for 13 years. He is also currently the executive director of the PSADA.
