JOHNSTOWN -- Hollidaysburg's Crosby Denis finished tied for second with a 76 in the girls competition, and Bishop Guilfoyle Academy's Grant Okonak and Central's Cody Clapper were tied for third with a 73 on the boys side in high school golf at the Wheeling Invitational at Sunnehanna Country Club on Sunday.
BG teammates Carter Boland and Troy Nachtman shot a 74 and tied for sixth alongside Altoona's Reese Hite.
Penn Cambria's Mikayla Durbin was seventh on the girls side with an 89. Central Cambria's Maddie Dumm was eighth with a 91, and teammate Bella Mesoras was 10th with a 94.
Rockwood's Olivia Nichols won the girls event with a 73, and State College's Luke McGraw defeated teammate Luke Larido on the sixth playoff hole with a birdie for the boys championship after both carded a 70.
State College won the boys team championship, finishing 6-over par, and BG was second at 11-over par. Penn Cambria finished fifth, Central sixth, Hollidaysburg seventh, Central Cambria tied for 11th, Altoona 13th and Bishop Carroll 14th out of 15 teams.
Westmont Hilltop won the girls championship at 15-over par. Hollidaysburg was second at 24-over par. Central Cambria was fourth.

Glover wins race
TYRONE -- Altoona's Archie Glover won the Saint Francis Invitational high school boys cross country race at B&D Acres on Saturday with a time of 17:40. His performance helped Altoona win the team title.
Seth Lieb of Altoona was third with a time of 17:42 just ahead of Williamsburg's Tanner Ross, who was fourth in 18:04. Tyrone's Brenson Davis was sixth in 18:14. Northern Bedford's Christopher Corle was eighth in 18:37.
On the girls side, Bedford's Chloe May won the girls race in 18:38.3, and Blake Pennington of Bellwood-Antis was second in 21:10.8. Sierra Hoover was seventh in 22:02.8 for Cambria Heights, and Williamsburg's Ava Dixon was 10th in 22:30.

PATTON -- Ned Smearman and Tytus Novak each had a goal and an assist to lead undefeated Tyrone to a 4-0 win over Cambria Heights in high school boys soccer action on Saturday.
David Gabel and Ethan Myers added goals for the Golden Eagles.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Lady Spikers compete
CLEARFIELD -- The Altoona junior high girls volleyball team lost in the semifinals of the Clearfield Invitational on Saturday after going 4-2 in pool play, beating Our Lady of Victory, 28-26, in the quarterfinals and falling to West Branch, 25-16, in the semifinals.
The B team also went 4-2 in pool play, topped Our Lady of Victory, 25-10, in the quarters and West Branch, 25-21, in the semifinals before losing to Bald Eagle Area, 25-14, in the final.
CC wins tourney
WINDBER -- Central Cambria's junior high girls volleyball team went 6-0 in pool play and then topped North Star (25-12), Richland (25-13) and Ferndale (25-23) in the playoffs to win the Windber Area Volleyball Tournament.
Morissa Kim had 26 service points. Millie McConnell had nine kills and 17 aces, and Nora Stevens and Macy Mesoras each had 16 assists for the Lady Devils.
