Hollidaysburg tops Tyrone and Central in cross country

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Reuben Manfred ran a first-place time of 16:45, and teammate Mason Kephart was second in 18:20 to lead Hollidaysburg to a 18-43 win over Tyrone and a 15-50 triumph over Central in high school boys cross country on Wednesday.

Tyrone, which got a third-place finish from Brenson Davis, topped Central, 15-50.

On the girls side, Hollidaysburg runners took the first seven places with Julia Van Kleunen's time of 21:09 leading the way. Katie Etters was second in 21:42.

The Lady Tigers beat Tyrone and Central, 15-50, and Tyrone, which got an eighth-place finish from Sage Harbst, topped Central, 15-50.

Hollidaysburg swept the middle school races. The boys race was won by Charlie Fiore, while the girls race was won by Lucy Hileman.

Noce second

MONROEVILLE -- The Altoona girls topped Latrobe, 27-38, behind a second-place overall finish by Ashlyn Noce, who ran the Boyce Park course in 20:24.

The Altoona boys beat Gateway, 15-50, and lost to Latrobe, 21-38. Seth Lieb ran the course in 18:41 and finished third overall.

CC dominates

CRESSON -- The Central Cambria boys and girls each defeated Penn Cambria and Chestnut Ridge, 15-50.

Jillian Wise won the girls race in 20:50 for the Lady Red Devils with Delaney Snyder less than a second behind her. Reed Takacs won the boys race in 17:15, and Miles Doyle was second in 18:08.

The Chestnut Ridge girls beat Penn Cambria, 22-33, and the Ridge boys beat the Panthers, 15-50.

BELLWOOD -- Bellwood-Antis topped Clearfield, 23-34 and Bald Eagle Area, 15-50, with the help of a first-place finish by Blake Pennington in 22:14. Julie Kraft was fourth in 23:24.

On the boys side, Clearfield topped the Blue Devils, 18-38, and B-A topped BEA, 15-50. Johnny Bickel was B-A's top runner in 21:49.

ARMAGH -- The Portage girls defeated Blacklick Valley, 19-43, and Cambria Heights, 20-38, and lost to Windber, 23-38, and United, 25-30, in a Heritage Conference meet.

Heights went 1-3 with a 24-31 win over Blacklick Valley and losses to United, 19-39, and Windber, 20-43.

Cambria Heights' Sierra Hoover was the top local finisher with a second-place time of 23:23. Portage's Josephine White finished in 24:20 and was fourth.

On the boys side, Heights went 3-1 with wins over Portage, 23-33, Blacklick Valley, 20-41, and Windber, 21-34, and a 24-32 loss to United.

Mason Kline was second for the Highlanders with a time of 20:11, and Logan Paronish was third in 20:36. Nolan Westover of Portage was fourth in 20:50.

Eli Gouse won the junior high race for Portage in 8:55.
