Hollidaysburg senior teammates Crosby Denis and Grace Muriceak will meet each other as opponents in today's District 6 Class 3A girls tennis individual championship match at Hollidaysburg Area High School at 4:30 p.m. after both players won two matches on Tuesday to qualify for the final.
Denis topped Altoona's Andie Adams, 6-0, 6-0, after Adams had won her first round match, 6-1, 6-0. State College's Abigail Cao topped her opponent from Mifflin County, 6-0, 6-0, to set up a semifinal matchup with Denis, who topped Cao, 6-2, 6-1.
On the other side of the bracket, Altoona's Skylar Irwin beat her Mifflin County opponent, 6-1, 6-0, in the first round before Muriceak defeated Irwin, 6-2, 6-0, in the quarterfinals.
State College's Joanna Liu downed her quarterfinal opponent, 6-1, 6-0, to earn a semifinal meeting with Muriceak.
The Lady Golden Tiger topped the Lady Little Lion, 6-2, 6-1, to set up today's all-Hollidaysburg final.
Denis and Muriceak, the District 6 3A doubles champions the last two years together, will both be seeking their first District 6 Class 3A individual championship.
