Hollidaysburg girls golf team just misses out on title

Hollidaysburg's girls golf team finished second, one stroke behind an Olivia Nichols led Rockwood team that finished 9-under par in Monday's Operation Our Town scramble at Park Hills Golf Course.

The Hollidaysburg team was made up of Crosby Denis, Maliah Malausky, Alayna Mitchell and Camilla Yost.

Central Cambria finished fourth at even par 70, and Penn Cambria was tied for fifth at 72.

On the boys side, the State College team of Luke McGraw, Jacky Sun and Charlie and Luke Larido finished 15-under par with a score of 55 to cruise to the championship.

Penn Cambria finished tied for second with Windber with a score of 60 from golfers Colten Karlheim, Kingston Durbin, Luke Michina and Callen Gides.

Bishop Guilfoyle Academy and Hollidaysburg finished tied for fourth at 61, and Altoona was tied with Tyrone for seventh with a 62.

BOALSBURG -- Led by Tate Baughman's 78, Bellwood-Antis went 4-0 in a Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference crossover boys golf match at Mountain View Country Club with wins over Central Cambria, Forest Hills, Penns Valley and Johnstown.

Tucker McCloskey shot a 79 for the Blue Devils, and Avery Bardell added an 84.

Central Cambria, which went 3-1, got a medalist score of 76 from Andrew Kasecky. Cannon Forcellini added a 78 for the Red Devils.

Crosby Denis, Grace Muriceak and Emma Mortiz won singles matches. Rina Stiffler and Taylor Eardley won at No. 1 doubles, and Brooklyn Klingner and Olivia Panaro won at No. 2 doubles for the Lady Tigers.
