Altoona boys, girls cross country take care of Kiski

Archie Glover's first-place finish in 17 minutes, 39 seconds led the Altoona Area High School boys cross country team to a 27-29 victory over Kiski Area at the Logan Elementary School course on Wednesday.

Glover was followed by teammate Seth Lieb in second place at 17:45.

The Altoona girls also prevailed, 25-30, with Ashlyn Noce placing first, Emma Etters second and Lana Luke fourth.

The Lady Lions are 3-0 while the Altoona boys are 2-1.

JOHNSTOWN -- Both the Bellwood-Antis boys and girls teams went 3-1 in a meet involving five teams.

The Bellwood boys beat Bishop Carroll, 15-50, Bishop McCort, 15-50, and Central, 15-50, but lost to Westmont Hilltop, 21-34.

BC's Noah Knoblock won the boys race with Bellwood's Domanick Halerz placing fourth.

The Bellwood girls topped BC, 15-50, McCort, 15-50, and Central, 15-50, but fell to Westmont, 21-34. Their record is 8-3.

BC's Abbey Hines won the girls race with Bellwood's Blake Pennington finishing second.

The Blue Devil boys are 6-5.

NEW PARIS -- The Central Cambria boys topped Bellefonte, 22-39, and host Chestnut Ridge, 15-50, while the CC girls beat both Bellefonte and Ridge by 15-50 scores.

JR HIGH BOYS: Central Cambria 6, Chestnut Ridge 15; Bellefonte 15, Central Cambria 50.

JR HIGH GIRLS: Central Cambria 15, Chestnut Ridge 50; Central Cambria 15, Bellefonte 50.

Tyrone goes 2-1

TYRONE -- The Tyrone boys beat Somerset, 25-31, and Clearfield, 25-30, but fell to Forest Hills, 18-47.

Brenson Davis of Tyrone finished third overall.

The Tyrone girls also went 2-1, beating Somerset, 25-34, and Clearfield, 15-50, but losing to Forest Hills, 26-30.

Sage Harbst of Tyrone place fifth overall.

CLYMER --The Portage boys, with Nolan Westover placing second, Josh Papcun fifth and Rylan Miller sixth, beat West Shamokin, 27-28, and Penns Manor, 24-31.

The West Shamokin boys beat Penns Manor, 25-36.

The Portage girls, with Josephine White placing second, topped Penns Manor, 15-50, but fell to West Shamokin, 26-30. The West Shamokin girls topped Penns Manor, 15-50.

The Portage boys are 5-5 while the girls are 6-5.

MOUNT UNION -- Maggie Barton's first-place finish helped the Juniata Valley girls top Mount Union, 15-50, and Tussey Mountain, 16-20, but the Lady Hornets fell short to Southern Huntingdon, 24-33.

The Juniata Valley boys lost to Mount Union (15-50), Tussey Mountain (15-21), Southern Huntingdon (17-38) and Belleville Mennonite (12-24).

Corle sets new mark

WATERFALL -- Chris Corle set a meet record with a time of 18:18 to lead the Northern Bedford boys past Southern Fulton and Forbes Road.

Northern's Weston Hart was second, Sole Rhoat third and Jake Keller fifth.

The Northern Bedford girls also went 2-0 with Lily Miller second, Carson Miller third, Leah Steele fourth and Charlotte Snyder fifth.
