EBENSBURG -- Central Cambria swept Cambria Heights' in both teams' season opener, 25-11, 25-17, 25-17, in girls volleyball Monday.

Mara Pablic had 13 points, nine kills, and 11 digs to lead the Lady Devils. Riley Kauffman registered eight service points and notched 27 assists. Gianna Grimaldi added a dozen service points.

Records: Cambria Heights (0-1); Central Cambria (1-0).

JV: Central Cambria, 2-1.

Junior high: Central Cambria A def. Cambria Heights, 25-11, 25-23; Central Cambria B def. Cambria Heights, 25-12, 27-25.

Huskies win

EBENSBURG -- Bishop Carroll defeated Glendale 25-10, 25-15, 25-13 in the Lady Vikings' season opener.

The Lady Huskies got 13 kills from Emily Olienyk to go with 33 assists from Lily Strait. Olivia Gregg added 13 kills while Cora Koscho added 12 digs.

Records: Glendale (0-1); Bishop Carroll (1-0).

JV: Glendale, 16-25, 25-11, 25-8

Junior high: Glendale, 25-12, 25-7.

NBC rallies

WILLOW HILL -- After dropping the first set, Northern Bedford rallied back to win the final three sets in a 23-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-15 victory over Fannett-Metal.

Callie Miller had eight service points and tallied 33 assists to pace the Lady Panthers. Ava Sipes registered seven service points and nine kills. Ember Martin and Chloe White had 13 service points apiece.

NORTHERN BEDFORD: Martin 13, White 13, Miller 8, Detterline 8, Sipes 7, Dainty 5.

Portage survives

JOHNSTOWN -- Portage lost the first set, but climbed back to take three of the next four sets in a 23-25, 25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 15-4 win at Greater Johnstown.

Mya Burda had 13 service points, including four aces to lead the Lady Mustangs. Contessa Smith also contributed four aces.

Johanna Noel knocked down nine kills, while Kylie Hess had 15 digs, and Mya Selepack recorded 15 assists.

Records: Portage (1-1); Johnstown (0-1).

JV: Portage, 25-11, 25-19.

MOUNT UNION -- Juniata Valley defeated Mount Union 25-21, 25-9, 25-19 in its season opener.

Ava Sager had 10 service points, including six aces, while Addie Borst added nine service points. Jocelyn McMahon contributed eight.
