KIRKLAND, Wash. -- The Johnstown West Suburban 14U team, with several players from the Mirror coverage area, opened play in the 2026 Little League Junior Softball World Series with a 7-1 victory over On Field, a team from Repentigny, Quebec, Canada.
Olivia O'Roark gave up just two hits and one run over five innings to earn the win, and Portage's Reese Pinizzotto and Central Cambria student Kylie Ferguson each threw a scoreless inning of relief.
Offensively, Kylie Sweeney led the way with two hits and two RBIs, O'Roark, Jerzy Bopp and Cambria Heights student Reagan Bills each had two hits, and Adalyn Hines drove in two runs. Portage's Camdyn Westover had a single and RBI.
West Suburban will now face Foothill of Palo Cedro, Calif., in the second day of pool play today. All teams will play four pool play games before heading to the elimination round.
