Johnstown teams pick up easy AAABA wins

JOHNSTOWN -- Mainline Pharmacy defeated Cleveland, 6-1, on Wednesday night to advance to tonight's National AAABA Tournament quarterfinals where it will take on Imler's Poultry of the Altoona AAABA League.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.

Mainline flipped the Cleveland game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs on three hits to take a lead, 6-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Brody Roberts following a 7-pitch at-bat that drove in two runs.

Jake McCoy started for Mainline. He allowed three hits and one run over six innings, striking out three and walking three.

Trey Wingard also finished with two hits and two RBIs for the winners.

Cleveland, which scored its only run in the first courtesy of Giacomo Dolce, was out-hit, 5-4.

Martella's cruises

JOHNSTOWN -- Martella's Pharmacy scored in every inning but the third in defeating Brooklyn, 17-1, in the National AAABA Tournament in a game played at Sargent's Stadium at the Point.

Martella's scored five runs on three hits in the sixth inning and six runs on four hits in the seventh inning. Brooklyn got its only run in the fourth inning when it was already down, 5-0.

Colby Rearick led the offensive charge with three hits and five RBIs batting in the No. 9 spot in the lineup. His teammates, Steve Budash, Ben Ryan and Lucas Olekso, each added two hits of their own.

Martella's will now play New Orleans next this afternoon at 2 o'clock back at Sargent Stadium.

Teener Minor playoffs

Locker Room opened the Altoona Teener Minor League playoffs with a 13-3 win in six innings over McMullen Furniture at Seitz Field.

Bently Irvin went 4 for 5 with a triple, two doubles, two runs scored, and knocked in eight runs for the winners. Jake Schmitt doubled and scored twice, while Logan Hatfield and Seth Sprowls both had two hits.

Holden Campagna had two hits for McMullen Furniture.

Locker Room plays J&P Auto Mart tonight at 5. McMullen Furniture plays again on Friday night at 7:30.

Furrer rolls

Furrer Beverage scored six runs in the top of the first inning, and scored in every inning the rest of the way in a 16-3 win in five innings over KarPro in the Teener Minor playoffs at Seitz Field.

With the win, Furrer Beverage plays Cumming Motors tonight at 7:30.
