Tiebreaker results in Marauders’ win in golf match

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Bishop Guilfoyle Academy and Hollidaysburg both shot 306 at Thursday's Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference boys golf match at Scotch Valley Country Club, but the Marauders got the victory due to the LHAC's first tiebreaker, which comes down to the fifth golfer's score.

BG got an 80 from Troy Nachtman while the Golden Tigers' fifth score was an 84.

Both teams defeated Bellwood-Antis (343), Tyrone (351) and Huntingdon (359).

Hollidaysburg's Tyler Steiner was the medalist, shooting a 3-under par round of 69. Mason Bender added a 75 for the Golden Tigers.

Carter Boland and Aidan Sheehan each carded a 75 for Bishop Guilfoyle.

Tate Baughman helped B-A go 2-2 in the match with an 84, and Blake Sweitzer led Tyrone with an 80.

Ethan Scalia, a Juniata Valley athlete, played as an individual in the match and shot a 78.

EBENSBURG -- Central edged Bedford, 326-328, to go 5-0 in a LHAC match at Ebensburg Country Club with the help of a 78 from Cody Clapper. Ben Hartman added an 82.

Central Cambria went 2-3 with wins over Bishop Carroll Catholic and Chestnut Ridge and losses to overall winner Central, Bedford and Penn Cambria. Andrew Kasecky led the Red Devils with a 74 and earned medalist honors for the match.

Kingston Durbin shot a 79 for Penn Cambria, which went 3-2. Bishop Carroll's best score came from Ryen Myers, who had an 81.

IMLER -- Windber won a quad match with McConnellsburg, Curwensville and Claysburg-Kimmel at King Valley Golf Course.

The Ramblers were led by medalist Owen B'Lucas' score of 38 and finished with a team score of 158.

Claysburg-Kimmel got its best scores from P.J. Lewis and Garrett Bass, who both carded a 46. The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 193 and went 0-3 on the day.

Altoona triumphs

Altoona swept the singles matches with Skylar Irwin, Ava Williams and Andie Adams picking up victories in a 4-1 triumph over DuBois in high school girls tennis at Mansion Park.

The team of Emma Hovan and Adalia Lopez-Oakes also got a win at No. 1 doubles as the Lady Lions improved to 2-0.
