Champions crowned on both Sylvan Hills and Summit golf courses

CRESSON -- The Central Counties Junior Golf Championships were held at the Summit Country Club where four different age groups won titles.

In the boys 16-18 division, Colten Karlheim (76) was the low gross winner while Avery Schenk was the low net winner (75). Henry St. Amant, Andrew Pile and Xavier O-Link tied for second (net, 76). Cody Clapper (gross, 80) was second.

In the girls 13-18 division, Crosby Denis won the gross division (79) while Kiya Thomas and Kendall McConnell tied for first (73) in the net division. The boys 13-15 group was won by Cooper Miller (78 net) and Luke Michina (84 gross).

The boys 10-12 division was won by Cayden Mix (49 net) and Bennett Denis (47 gross).

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The team of Lou Ann Donlan, Lynn Durbin, Margie Coho and Molly Goldstein won on a cardoff with a 40 to capture the scramble event held at the Sylvan Hills Golf Club.

Finishing second was the team of Kathleen Taylor, Linda Derman, Sue Green and Sandy Murphy. One stroke back at 41 and in third was the team of Connie Angeski, Marsha Hunter, Ruth Lucey and Joan Conway.

On the men's side, the Butch Focht Senior Tournament was won by the team of Joe DeGennaro, Rodger Fair and Don Stubbs with a 35.

Placing second, with a 36 that was won on a cardoff, was the team of Terry Goldstein and Gary Zimmerman. Third-place honors belonged to Robin Weaver, Steve Downing and Gary Phennicie.

Finishing fourth with a 37 was the team of Jim Burke, Herb Bolger and David Johns at 37.
