Dziabo captures championship flight at Summit Country Club

CRESSON -- Quintin Dziabo won the championship flight at Summit Country Club in this past weekend's stroke-play club championship.

Dziabo shot a two-day total of 144, besting runner-up Collin Reese by seven strokes. Cody Trabert was third one stroke back of Reese.

Adam Moreland won the first flight with a score of 158, and Duane Della was second a stroke back.

Jim Smith shot a 169, and Matt Ratchford carded a 171 in the second flight.

Mason McCarthy won the third flight with a 167, and Luke Michina was second with 168.

Marty Sekerak won the fourth flight with a 171, and Jacob Shuagis won the fifth flight with a 193.

Kelli Plunkett won the championship flight of the women's club championship with a 171, and Kylee Marshall won the first flight with a score of 193.

In senior division play, Brady Eckenrode's two-day score of 152 bested Rick Holtz's score of 155 in the Flight A championship. Warren Rhyner won the net by a stroke, 147-148, over John Dziabo in the net.

Mike Lilly's 162 bested Jack Shaffer's 172 in Flight B. Denny Storm shot 147, and Nick Macchia had 150 to win the Flight B net.

Dale Perino won the low gross of the senior division 50-64 age range with a 162, and Bob Whiteman shot 141 to win the low net.

In other play at Summit, Tyler Smith, Justin Hoover, Bryce Huss and Brady Huss shot a 51 to win the four-player scramble for Collectively USA Charity Golf to benefit Penn State wrestling, Saint Francis, Strawberry Fields and the American Heart Association.

Dylan Link, Dave Link, Samantha Kemock and Matt Kemock were second with a 54.

Brady Huss, Tim Golden, David Romani, Mark Conrad, Nolan Wyrwas, Jeremiah Kim and Bryce Huss won skill prizes.

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Nick Matteson had a low gross score of 39. John Hopkins and Cameron Wood recorded a low net score of 35 in Sylvan Hills Thursday night league play.

Closest-to-the-pin honors went to Gary Long and Kevin Fuller, who shares the league lead with Jim Seiler.
