Lady Tigers golf team takes three on the road

CLEARFIELD -- The Hollidaysburg girls golf team improved to 6-1 by shooting a team total 136 in a quad-meet at the Curwensville Clearfield Country Club that saw the Lady Tigers go 3-0 Tuesday in high school action.

Penn Cambria's Mikayla Durbin was the medalist with a 42 as the Lady Panthers took second (154), but they did best Philipsburg-Osceola (158) and Clearfield (180). Hollidaysburg was led by Piper Weidley's 44.

PENN CAMBRIA (154): Durbin 42, McConnell 56, Wirfel 56

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA (158): Burns 44, Fahr 56, Meersand 58

Lamey-Huggler triumph

HUNTINGDON -- The team of Bob Lamey and Gerry Huggler went 5-2 during Big Orange Golf League action at the Huntingdon Country Club.

Three teams went 3-4: Phil Thompson-Larry Newton, Alan Herbster-Keith Black and Geoff Clarke-Ed Gargula.

Newton was the low gross winner (37) while Huggler was the low net winner (35). The shot of the day was Newton's 35-foot putt on No. 4 from the fringe for birdie.

GC boys triumph

THREE SPRINGS -- Wesley Hicks scored two goals to lead Great Commission to a 3-1 victory over Southern Huntingdon in a high school boys soccer game on Tuesday.

Aaron Kurty also scored for the Bears.

McALLISTERVILLE -- The Blair County Christian School girls soccer team opened its season with a 1-1 tie against Juniata Christian.

It was also the season opener for Juniata Christian.

Tegan Kennedy scored in the first half, on an assist from Cora Tucci, for Blair. Nora Weller scored for Juniata Christian.
