Fridley clutch for Cumming Motors in AAABA playoff ‘W’

Roman Fridley had a walk-off single to lead Cumming Motors to a comeback, 7-6, victory over Alexander Financial Group in the first game of the best-of-three Altoona AAABA semifinal series at Vets Field on Sunday.

Alexander Financial Group built a 5-0 lead, and Matthew Gutshall and Reese Alexander each had two RBIs for Alexander.

Mason Mierley, Donald Miller and Alex Ebeling each had two hits for Cumming Motors, and Alex Neidig threw five innings and relief and did not allow an earned run.

MH Electric Services knocked off top-seeded Imler's Poultry, 9-2, in the first game of their best-of-three Altoona AAABA semifinal series with a strong pitching performance from Kyron Fields, who went the distance and struck out 11.

Carter Savage had three hits, and Colin Bush had two hits and three RBIs for MH Electric Services.

Chase Plummer and Jake Hall each had two hits for Imler's.

Sons & Daughters of Italy advanced to the George B. Kelley Federation semifinals with a forfeit win over Mile Level Physical Therapy after the Cove-based team could not get enough players to play Game 3 in their quarterfinal series on Sunday.

Sons & Daughters of Italy will take on Gloria Gates Care, and Barton's Plumbing & Heating will play Laurel Medical in the semifinal best-of-three series starting on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Mansion Park.

Metzler Brothers Transport used an eight-run third inning to pull away from KarPro in a 10-2 Altoona Teener Major League victory at Seitz Field on Sunday.

Cam Heck had three hits, and Colby Gojmerac had two hits and three RBIs for the winners.

Metzler Brothers improved to 5-11 while KarPro fell to 4-13.
