Park Home Classic among upcoming tournaments

Youth baseball

The area will be hosting several baseball tournaments over the next few weeks, and the fourth-annual Park Home Altoona Classic will kick things off today.

The 23-team single-elimination tournament involving the three Altoona youth baseball leagues — 10 teams from the Altoona Area Baseball Association, eight teams from the East End Youth Baseball League and five teams from the Altoona Independent Youth Baseball League — will be hosted by the AABA this year with all games being played at John Kraft Field on Ninth Street and Pleasant Valley Boulevard.

East End champion Greenwood Meadows, which has won the Park Home Classic each of the first three years, will be competing in the tourney along with other league champions Holsinger’s Plumbing & Heating of the AABA and Fiore True Value of the AIYBL.

The opening ceremonies will be held at 5 p.m. today, followed by two games — Kabello Contracting vs. John Sisto Law Office at 6:30 and Drenning Delivery vs. Caporuscio Plumbing & Heating at 8.

Three games are slated for Friday with six on Saturday and four on Sunday. The quarterfinals are Monday and Tuesday with the semifinals next Thursday and the consolation and championship games slated for Saturday, July 18.

A base-running contest and home run derby will be held on Friday, July 17 on the Carl Cacciotti Field.

Big game in Hollidaysburg

The Little League Baseball Pennsylvania District 11 12U championship game between Hollidaysburg and Mount Union is set for 6 p.m. today at the Hollidaysburg Area Summer Baseball League field.

If Hollidaysburg wins, it will claim the District 11 title and represent the district in the Section 4 tournament, which will be hosted by Hollidaysburg from July 18-22.

If Mount Union wins today, the teams will play a winner-take-all game at 6 p.m. Saturday in Mount Union.

14U tournament

The Central Blair Parks & Recreation Commission will be hosting a 14U baseball tournament this weekend at Veterans Memorial Field.

The Veterans Memorial Field Classic, which was postponed earlier this year due to rain, will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with six teams involved.

Two Altoona teams — Flood City Elite – Farabaugh and Flood City Elite – Miller — will join the Mid-State Expos of Bellwood, Bases Loaded Baseball of Johnstown, the Diamondbacks of DuBois and the Jarrettsville (Md.) Hawks.

Every team will play two pool play games on Saturday with all six advancing to Sunday’s single-elimination bracket play. The championship game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday. All games are scheduled for Vets Field.

CK Little World Series

The 2026 Courtesy Kia Little World Series is scheduled to run from Saturday, July 18-Saturday, July 25 with all games being played at Altoona Independent Youth Baseball League’s Centennial Field.

Thirteen teams representing five different area youth baseball leagues will compete with the consolation and championship games set for July 25.

Starting at $3.83/week.
