HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg 12U Little League baseball team captured the District 11 championship Thursday night, taking care of Mount Union, 11-0, to advance to the sectional tournament.

The Section 4 Tournament will be hosted by Hollidaysburg that will run July 18-22.

Hollidaysburg pitchers combined to strike out 10 Mount Union hitters in the victory.

For Mount Union, it had to win Thursday night to force another game, which would have been played in Mount Union on Saturday.

Classic begins

The Fourth Annual Park Home Classic opened play Thursday night at the AABA Little League’s John Kraft Field with Sisto Law and Drenning Delivery getting the opening-night victories.

Sisto Law took care of Kabello’s Contracting, 7-2, behind winning pitcher Uzziah Kustaborder, who struck out 12 and allowed only three hits in five-plus innings of work. Teammate Jon Ballos homered.

In the nightcap, Drenning’s took down Caporuscio’s Plumbing, 10-0, behind winning pitcher Mark Sprouse who threw five no-hit innings in the mercy-rule victory. Teammate Mason Boring had three hits.
