Saint Francis unveils new athletics mascot

LORETTO — Saint Francis University officially introduced the Red Wolves on Wednesday as the new mascot and athletic identity during a special campus-wide celebration, marking a significant milestone in the university’s history as it prepares to transition to NCAA Division III athletics.
The event brought together alumni, students, faculty, staff, donors, and fans to honor the university’s rich athletic tradition while embracing a bold vision for the future.
Director of Athletics Jim Brazill opened the ceremony by reflecting on the importance of the moment for the Saint Francis community. He emphasized that athletics at Saint Francis has always represented more than competition, serving as a vehicle for to build character and leadership.
As the university prepares for its move to Division III competition in the fall, Brazill noted the school University will reinvest in its Catholic and Franciscan mission by placing the holistic student experience at the center of athletics.
“Today is not about leaving behind the proud tradition that generations built here,” Brazill said. “It’s about honoring that legacy while building momentum for the future.”
