Pitt basketball adds two more transfers

PITTSBURGH — Pitt men’s basketball coach Jeff Capel announced the additions of Baye Ndongo and Ibrahim Souare on Wednesday.
Ndongo is a 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward from Mboro, Senegal. He joins the Panthers after a three-year career at Georgia Tech that included All-ACC third team and ACC all-freshman team recognition.
Souare is a 6-foot-9 forward and native of Guinea.He joins the Panthers after three seasons in the ACC, having spent the 2025-26 campaign at Syracuse and the start of his college career at Georgia Tech.
Swimmers honored
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athletes on the men’s and women’s swimming teams, including Altoona’s Emma Fraundorfer and Tyrone’s Sophia Cowher and Isabella Rhoades, earned academic accolades from their conference on Wednesday, when the State University of New York Athletic Conference announced its 2025-26 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.
To qualify, student-athletes must have cumulative grade-point averages of 3.3 or higher.
Fraundorfer is a junior majoring in accounting, Cowher is a freshman majoring in education, and Rhoades is a senior majoring in business management and marketing.
Other women’s swimmers honored were Alexis Buchala, Julia Daley, Paige Goray, Anna Heller, Ashley Moretz, Victoria Oldford and Claire Smith.
Men’s swimmers honored were Adam Dotts, Ben Dotts, Liam Fass, Jackson Ketterling, Shuo Sun, Nick Trabucco and Caden Traggiai.
Sylvan Hills golf
HOLLIDAYSBURG — In the Sylvan Hills Monday Evening Golf League, Nick Matterson recorded a low gross of 35 and E.J. Madey had a low net with a 31.
The closest to hole No. 4 was Gene Frye. Individual hole winners were Madey, Coltyn Wagner and Gerry Rubritz. The league leaders are Luke Grove and Matteson.
Big Orange golf
HUNTINGDON — Ed Gargula and Geoff Clarke lead the Big Orange Golf League Cycle 1 after week 6 at Huntingdon Country club.
Bob Lamey and Gerry Huggler are second at 3-3, and Phil Thompson and Larry Newton, and Alan Herbster and Keith Black are both 2-4.
Clarke had the low gross of 39, and Herbster had the low net of 35. Mike Reese substituted for Newton.
