UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State men’s basketball coach Mike Rhoades announced the signing of guard Andy Gemao on Wednesday for the 2026-27 season.

Gemao, a native of the Philippines who played at Royal Crown School in Toronto, Ontario, comes to Penn State as a freshman.

In two seasons of scholastic ball in Canada, Gemao, a 6-foot-1 guard, totaled 712 points, 256 assists and 122 rebounds as a team captain.

His team went 19-2 during his senior season where he was a NPA first-team all-star and an OSBA second-team all-star.

Gemao was a member of both the U19 and U16 national teams for the Philippines.

Top 10 swim finishers

MONTCLAIR, Va. — Addison Smith and Owen Dunklebarger, members of the Blair Regional YMCA Tigershark swim team, competed at the Lake Montclair Swim Festival where both finished in the top 10 in their respective categories.

Smith, 16, finished fifth in the female 15-18 age group 2.5K race with a time of 38.02. Dunklebarger, 16, placed sixth in the Male 15-18 category with a time of 42.23.

The event was a USA-Swimming sanctioned open water race.

Foursome win

ROARING SPRING — The team of Wes Elder, Tyler Jarratt, Chip Will and Mike DeHaas finished 18 under to win the Best 2 of 4 Blind Draw event held at the Iron Masters Country Club.

Placing second at 16 under was the team of Ron Hinish, Jearmie Yeoman, Ken Emigh and Scott Werking. Third-place honors, at -15 under, went to the team of Garth Honsaker, Randy Jarratt, Stan Snyder and Kathy Bottenfield.

Card-off at Sylvan

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Brenda Flick, Marsha Hunter and Sandy Murphy won a card-off with a 40 to win the Sylvan Hills Ladies Golf Association Scramble on Tuesday.

Second place went to Kim Straesser, Sue Green and Pam Ergler, also with a 40, and Lynn Durbin, Carole Laich, Sue Welsh and Linda Derman finished third with a 43.

In the Monday Evening League, scoring a 38 gross was the team of Nick Matteson and A.J. Petrosky (net 30).

Closest to pin hole No. 2 was Petrosky. Individual hole winners were Bradley Musselman and Matteson. The league leader is the team of Luke McGuffin and Matteson.
